Volume 5, Issue 1 - Februrary 2005

Additions

During the last three months, 41 bunnies have arrived at the shelter. (Note: For the bunnies below, move your mouse over their pictures and their names will appear. For more pictures of these bunnies and others who are looking for a home, visit the Colorado HRS web site. )

Magnolia
Magnolia - This big, beautiful New Zealand White weighs roughly 7-3/4 lbs. Her dewlap creates a lovely pillow for her head to rest on. A little shy, Magnolia would like nothing more than a consistent home-life where she could learn to trust people. DOB: around 2001.
Marvin

Marvin - Marvin, born in 2002 is 5-1/2 lbs. He and Sheila have become an inseparable couple. They are very cute, active, and curious. Both of these rabbits love humans, and long for one or more of their own.

Buddy Bob

Buddy Bob - This 3-1/2 lb Dutch mix rabbit is a gentle little grey and white rabbit, with a lot of the Dutch personality (i.e.“perfect in every way”). His name is really “Buddy,” but when another rabbit came in whose name had been “Buddy” all his life, we had to make a distinction. DOB: 2004.

Homer
Homer - Homer and Daphne have joined forces to create an adorable couple. Homer is chocolate brown, and Daphne is white with brown areas matching his. Both weigh less than 4 lbs. Homer is the friendlier of the two, but Daphne hopes someone will adopt them and give her the security she needs to lose the slight shyness she has. DOB: Daphne July 2003; Homer 2003.
Buddy Joe & Whitney
Buddy Joe and Whitney - Buddy is a dark brown and white, 7-1/2 lb, mixed breed bunny, who loves his big, 10-1/2 lb, New Zealand White partner, Whitney. Buddy is very friendly with people, but Whitney is extremely shy. They were dumped by their people who perceived their relationship as one of domestic violence and weren't willing to provide a larger space for the pair. A bit more living space was all it took for them to be fully compatible. The two long for a home together where their needs will be respected and met. DOB: Both 2002.
Fluffy

Fluffy - Fluffy is one big (9-3/4 lb) angora! She's very friendly with people, running to anyone who opens her crate door or calls her name. Her coat contains white, grey, and brown colors. If you are a spinner, or just love big bunnies, this is the girl for you! DOB: July 2002.

Tammy
Tammy - Tammy is a beautiful, white and pale gray rabbit who is very affectionate with people. She enjoys being picked up, as well as being petted. Roughly a year old, she will probably weigh just under five pounds when she has her full weight.
Lizzie

Lizzie - Lizzie is an adorable little girl-bunn, weighing in at just over 3 lbs. At one-years old, she is the perfect age to begin her career as your house rabbit. She is entertaining prospective hus-bunns, so if you have a little boy-bunn looking for a little girl-bunn, hurry! Lizzie won’t be here long.

Peggy Sue

Peggy Sue - Another solid black dwarf mix, weighing just over 2-1/2 lbs. Peggy Sue will give Taylor a run for her money any day. She, too, is affectionate with people, likes to be held and petted, and is oh, so petite! DOB: Mid-2004.

Willow
Willow - Willow is a lovely angora, confiscated at the same time that McIntosh was. Like him, she doesn’t mind being held and combed, although she doesn’t run to the door of her crate to greet people. With time, we expect Willow to become much more social with people.
Mary
Mary - Mary, a black version of Kyla, was also confiscated by the state. In fact, the two may be sisters. Mary is rapidly gaining the weight she needs, is shy, but learning to trust. If big and beautiful is your bag, Mary is just the bunn for you!

Richie
Richie - Richie is a pure white Flemish giant, probably around a year old. At a bit over 10 lbs, he probably has some more growing to do. Typical of his breed, he has a lot of self-confidence, likes people, and seems to think he’s part puppy.
Benji

Benji - Wonderfully friendly, Benji is an adorable more-or-less lop, depending on what he's doing with his ears at any given time. Born around 2003, he weighs just over 5-1/2 lbs. He's eager to find a partner willing to share her home.

Cassie

Cassie - Little Cassie has the markings of a Californian, but at 5-1/4 lbs, she's her own delightful mix. She has a very lively personality and is looking for a hus-bunn with a personality strong enough to compliment hers. DOB: November 2003.

Dora

Dora - This pretty little, 5 lb, black and white Dutch rabbit is a real sweetheart. She likes people and enjoys being cuddled. Dora is now bonded to Rudy. DOB: 2003.

Pepperoni

Pepperoni - This 7-1/2 lb rabbit has taken up residence with his beloved Loretta. Pepperoni loves having a hand placed under his chin while the top of his head and ears are rubbed. He sometimes even snores with contentment! DOB: Late 2003.

Loretta
Loretta - This beautiful, black and white mini-lop is now paired with Pepperoni. Born in 2002, Loretta is a friendly, lively rabbit.
Lucy

Lucy - Born in 2000, Lucy is a classic white rabbit who would brighten any décor and serve as a beautiful contrast to a rabbit of any color. Moderate in size, Lucy is around 6-3/4 lbs.

Taylor

Taylor - Taylor is a beautiful black dwarf mix and weighs just over 3-1/2 lbs. Born in late 2003, or early 2004, she enjoys being carried around and loves to be petted. Hey, guys, you’d better hurry if you want a chance with this lovely lady!

Kyla
Kyla - Kyla is a very large grey rabbit who was confiscated by the state. She came to us weighing just over 8 lbs, has since passed the 10 lb mark, and continues to gain more weight. Coming from an abusive situation, Kyla was extremely shy at first (“terrified” might be the better word), but with each passing day, she is more and more anxious to accept human affection. This gal is going to be one super bunny!
McIntosh
McIntosh - An agouti colored, large (over 8 lbs) angora, McIntosh was also confiscated by the state. We think he was born in 2002. He won’t come running to greet people, but he doesn’t mind being held and combed. Typical of the angora, he’s a quiet, gentle rabbit.
Babette
Babette - This adorable, grey mini-lop is a hoot! Friendly, rambunctious, and as cute as they come, Babette won’t be here long. She weighs just under 6 lbs and was born during 2003.
Floppy
Floppy - Floppy is a 10-year-old, 2-3/4 lb dwarf, who is still going strong. She lost her elderly mom and her home, and hopes that someone will give her a safe, quiet home where she can spend her elder years.
Ringo
Ringo - Ringo appears to be about 4 weeks old. He has the markings and look of a Californian. However, someone seemed to think they could turn him into a lop by duct-taping his ears down!

Jerry - Jerry nearly climbs out of his cage to get to people. What am I saying! Jerry DOES climb out of his cage to get to people. He’s a most affectionate black and white Dutch, who we guess was born in 2003. He was well-loved by his person who has multiple cancers throughout her body, including her brain, and is unable even to remember her beloved bunny. (No photo available.)
