Jasmine

Sandy this note is to let all know that our beautiful Jasmine passed on to a bigger better bunny world in April. She was such a delight to our family for the year we had her. We enjoyed her big presence in our home, and at 11 pounds she was big!

Here is a picture of this wonderful bunny that we loved so much. Kris.

Honey

Honey

My little Honey bunny came home, with partner Oreo, during the harsh winter of 2002. She and Oreo were living in an outdoor hutch in Winter Park with no straw, no hay, no shelter, just each other. When their human committed suicide they came to me, fortunately, and began the plush life of beloved house rabbits. Utterly devoted to each other, this pair of Dutch Dwarfs were the ideal house rabbits. I loved them both deeply. At the age of 10 Honey slipped away from me and Oreo despite my best efforts to reverse her GI stasis. She died in my arms as I held her in my bed, trying to keep her warm. Earlier that day she skipped and played in the lush green grass of her backyard, teasing Oreo, belying her senior citizen status. Oh Honey baby, what will Oreo and I do without you? You left so suddenly. We will hold you in our hearts until we see you again on the other side of the Bridge.

Spirit

Spirit came to me in the summer of 2005 to be hus-bunn to our girl Josie. Gallant, handsome, gentle, and patient, he waited while my histrionic mini-lop Josie took two weeks to decide he was no threat; and in fact was pretty good company. He was FABULOUS company, and Josie and I fell deeply in love with Spirit. Later in life he battled with abscesses in his head, this is ultimately what took him from us. Spirit’s life made a DIFFERENCE in the lives of those who loved him and the lives of the bunnies we rescue. Please see the full story and pictures of Spirit's life on the link located in the left bottom corner of the Home page.

Snow

Snow

At just 2 lbs, tiny Snow was the Satellite bunny everyone wanted to hold as she lay calmly in the arms of children and adults alike. She was a wonderful bunny ambassador demonstrating the joys rabbits can provide to humans. Cast off by a 4-H family whose neglect led to her permanent head tilt, Snow found an incomparable richness to life as a member of Tristan’s herd. Tristan, Bambi, Joey, and Snow were a foursome for many years, loving and caring for each other. Now Snow reunites with Tristan and Bambi across the Rainbow Bridge, running straight and true, head held high, snow-white fur gleaming in the sun.

Bambi

Goodbye to Bambi, affectionately known as Bambaroo and Bam Bam. Bambi joined the Satellite the day Tristan came home and she was a devoted wife and matriarch of Tristan’s herd. She brought such joy into Tristan’s life. When Tristan crossed the Bridge, Bambi was the glue that held the herd together. Now we envision a joyous reunion between Bam Bam and Tristan and see them snuggling and catching up, whole and vital again, in the green, green grass of Paradise.

Finnegan

Finnegan

We loved Finnie from the moment we met him at the animal shelter to the moment he passed in our arms. We love him still. His funny, outgoing, spectacular personality made him a favorite of all who met him. Finnie was always the first to gallop to the front of his run to greet any human, dog, or animate object! A chronic urine sludge condition requiring regular medical care necessitated him becoming our first sanctuary bunny. While we were sad Finn and mate Abby were unable to experience the joy of being “only bunnies” in a loving human home, we are overjoyed to have had the pleasure of his company for the three years he was at the Satellite. It was a bittersweet privilege to be present when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He is survived by mate Abby Rose and foster parents Sandy and Chuck. As we nurse the holes in our hearts we take comfort envisioning him bounding joyously through the lush green grass on the other side of the Bridge. No doubt Tristan, Domino, and Cleo were there to greet him as he entered Paradise. Binkies to you, precious love.

Antoinette (Toni)

We lost Antoinette (the bunny on the left) to megacolon, a congenital intestinal condition preventing full absorbtion of food. She was able to spend her last night at home snuggling with her beloved Cleopatra, who survives Toni and misses her very much. In keeping with our philosophy, Cleo will be available to adopt and pair with another rabbit sooner than later, as this will expedite healing from her grief. We are honored to have had this beautiful soul grace our Satellite.

Kya

Kya

I always wanted a big bunny and Kya was the one that came to be. Nancy was willing to let Kya go as a single because she did not like other bunnies, but as you can see from the picture, this big black and white French Lop was a member of two herds and had the rich experience of several bunny friends around for grooming and snuggling.

Kya was a wonderful bunny ambassador at the Grand Junction Farmer’s Market, where she would walk on a leash and enjoy all the attention she got from passers-by. At PetSmart visitors always wanted to adopt her rather than the orphans who were looking for forever homes. Kya was a real character and never hesitated to try to take what she wanted, including a chicken pot pie from my daughter one evening! Our beloved girl died suddenly of a twisted intestine August 23, 2008, 10 short months after she joined the family. We had no chance to prepare for her passing. You are sorely missed big girl; the remaining members of the herd had some trouble carrying on. Give a kiss to Sable and Poptart for us on the other side of the Bridge.

Poptart

Poptart was a Ruby Rabbit in the truest sense, one of the sweetest rabbits we’ve ever known. He came into our lives through another rescue during our first Grand Junction tuneup class. Clearly Poptart was loved and handled in his previous home because we’ve never met a better snuggler. He fell in love with tiny, insecure Lilly, a baby rescued shortly after him. When at last Lilly fell in love too, they became an item when Lilly was old-enough to be spayed.

Among Poppy’s many endearing qualities was his desire to lick human feet … uhmmmm, did that feel good! When his human decided to make a herd, Poppy was the glue that held the herd together and the love that kept everyone getting along. He was always up for a cuddle and all the PetSmart staff and volunteers just loved him. He would hop around PetSmart on a leash like he was a dog, with a big smile for everyone he met. We were devastated to learn his kidneys were failing and Poptart quietly slipped away from us in a matter of days. The herd broke up after he left. We are still crying. We love you sweet boy, you spread love and joy wherever you went.

Maya & Marty

Maya & Marty

Hi, we are Maya and Marty, and except for Boo-regard, we are the first of Rosey’s babies to get a forever home! I am Maya, the gorgeous girl on the left, and I met my new human mom at PetSmart. We had a great connection. She wanted to bring me home for her boy-bunn Tike, but I guess something happened to Tike and he went over the Rainbow Bridge. I was very sorry to hear this, but when I heard I would be living with my brother Marty, I wasn’t sad any more. Sadly, I lost Marty this month. While I miss him very much, I am happy Buck was there to comfort me and be my new companion. Goodbye Marty, we miss you greatly.

Little Tike

Tike (aka Little Tike) was a handsome heart-stealer from day one. He was instantly welcomed by his dog brothers and sister, along with his cat brothers. He had big brown eyes and the sweetest personality and was a great addition to the family even for the short time it was. Watching him kick in the air and play chase with his buddy Nemo (cat) brought hours of enjoyment. He especially loved the morning and nightly cheek rubs along with morning kisses from his human mom to start our day. Oh, Tike you are one missed little bunn. Bunny loves and kisses little man.

The Northwest Satellite is grateful for the donation made in Tike's honor. This kindness will assist us to rescue and rehome abandoned domestic bunnies in the Grand Junction area.

Little Tike

Kyle

Kyle

Kyle was one of the sweetest mini lops we’ve ever met. Because of this he found a wonderful home with bunny friend Jackson. Sadly, after a year and a half in his new home, Kyle's family notified us he passed away. We are sorry for this devastating loss.
